ABOUT THE TOUR

A nation-wide tour to rekindle hope and re-build the movement and change hearts and minds across the country.

This Tour is Our Injection

of Hope in An Era of Hate.

!!!

We came up with the tour concept based on the following diagnosis of the movement and the moment:

1

We see a powerful and bold grassroots movement, but one where local struggles are often disconnected from the national movement. In big cities and small towns everywhere, we have movement leaders putting in the work - and we want to knit those champions together into a big, bold and powerful national movement.

2

We see the rise of hopelessness, defeatism and despair in our communities, as we face multiple crises. Our opposition wants us scared, wants us demoralized, because they know these traits are poison to our movements and communities. Queer joy, hope and defiance are what this tour is all about - because they’re the antidote to despair.

3

We see the public being turned against trans and queer people, with dishonest narratives, alleging we’re pushing some sort of scary agenda, that we’re afraid of debate, and all kinds of other hate. Our opposition has tons of cash and a playbook they’ve spent years refining in the US. We have people-power, but we haven't harnessed it well.

4

We need to have fun,

be gay, and get organized.

This tour is powered by three organizations and local partner organizations across the nation.

Queer Momentum

Queer Momentum is Canada's queer movement organization, powering political campaigns, building intersectional coalitions and training activists from coast to coast to coast.

TransAction Alberta was formed to power the response to the Government of Alberta's anti-trans legislation and policies. Ever since, they've been leading protests, engaging politicians and powering grassroots advocacy across the province.

OUR HOSTS

Our tour hosts - Fae Johnstone and Victoria Bucholtz - are two Canada's most prominent, canceled, loved and hated trans activists. They're both movement veterans - Victoria has been a powerhouse in Alberta, responding to the most egregious anti-trans policies we've yet seen in Canada. Fae has been on the national scene for over a decade, acting as a movement spokesperson and strategist. Now, they're hitting the road to share what they've learned - but more than that - to connect with local leaders and advocates across Canada.

Fae Johnstone is the co-founder and executive director of Queer Momentum, Canada’s 2SLGBTQIA+ advocacy organization, and has been a national movement leader for over a decade, coordinating strategy, powering campaigns and serving as a public face and spokesperson. She is a movement messenger - taking queer ideas and making them make sense to heterosexuals everywhere.

Victoria Bucholtz (aka Karla Marx) is the executive director of TransAction Alberta, powering the provincial response to Premier Danielle Smith’s attack on trans rights. She is an award winning drag artist, comic and burlesque performer (with a PhD!) who has graced stages and hosted events across Canada. She’s seen the far-right anti-trans playbook up close in her home province - and she’s on a mission to stop the spread of hate to other corners of Canada.
